The new governance of the Antico Ospedale Santa Maria della Scala Foundation, which took office about a year ago and is chaired by Cristiano Leone, has taken on the responsibility of a complex and ambitious project: to restore these vast spaces and reopen them with diverse cultural and research purposes. This path has involved the scientific consultancy of curator and architecture critic Luca Molinari and his studio, reflecting on how to shape this great challenge. An initial research phase led to the selection of three internationally renowned firms: LAN Architecture, Odile Decq, and Hannes Peer, tasked with working on different areas of the Complex to bring these spaces back to light. Art, architecture, research, contemporaneity: in this interview, the Foundation’s President shares the new and multifaceted vision for its future.
